Born in Pittsburgh, raised in the Chicago suburbs, I now live with my wife Sharon (43 years) in Janesville Wisconsin, about 100 miles from Oak Park and the Center. We have four sons, raised in Janesville, who have moved back to Chicago, and a daughter in Madison.

I graduated from Loyola's medical school in Maywood ("later in life" with a great deal of support from Sharon.) She and our 4 young sons were in my graduation photos! Retired now from emergency medicine, we are blessed by time to be with our young grandchildren in Chicago. I also play guitar and am learning mandolin more than I could before, now with a few different groups in Janesville.

Still an intermittently practicing Catholic, I have always sought out and tried to learn meditation. Because we have a part time residence in Oak Park, I became aware of ZLMC.

While I am still an occasional visitor to a Rinzai center in Madison, I have become very comfortable with the sangha and the teachers at ZLMC. There is a warm and welcoming feeling with a gently and genuinely nurturing atmosphere.

One of the gifts of COVID has been remote participation, and I value the times I am able to ZOOM into what is happening daily and weekly at ZLMC.

I am grateful that it comes together this way.

One last remarkable interrelational note, my wife Sharon has been friends with Rev. Diane Myogetsu since high school. We still  have many wonderful times with her!
